Only I could go the vets with an ill cat and return with an ill bird

By Elizabeth Swan on

Yesterday I went to the vets with my cat. He's okay, just tummy issues that we are trying to fix. Anyway I hear a little tweet whilst I was with the vet and I saw she had a little bird in a box next to her computer. The tiny bird had a head injury probably from flying into glass.

"I'm giving him water, but if he isn't on his feet by this evening I'll put him down as I can't leave him alone."

So I offered to take him. Through the evening, in between posting content I fed him little drips of water and food that the vet had sent me away with. He did stand a few times and he tweeted occasionally. But he got quieter and quieter and soon he just looked like he was sleeping, no longer looking at me, just drifting away.

At this point I posted on Loyal Fans to my subscribers. This morning I found out that the post wasn't allowed because I was talking about an animal. Sigh. The ever growing censorship that we are all being subjected to.

And this morning the little bird was gone, as was one of my rescue quails that I have at the bottom of my house. A sad day for birds and I have to say, it has put me in a bad mood.

But still. Not to sound like a virtue signalling twat but we have such little control over so many things in life, but being kind to something more vulnerable to ourself is important in an increasingly turbulent world.
