Jeremy Corbyn and the hate lobby

By Elizabeth Swan on

I just spent bloody ages writing a comment in response to the article in The Guardian http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/mar/04/jeremy-corbyn-decriminalise-sex-industry-prostitution and then when I tried to post it said the comments were closed. So again my opinion as a sex worker is hushed. Well I should be used to that by now! So I am blogging my response here as I am a gobby sex worker who refuses to be silenced. Thank you Jeremy Corbyn for being brave enough to say that you are for decriminalisation. You will have known what you were in for from the vicious, cruel 'feminist' lobby. Yes I am writing to you, Harman, Phillips and Mactaggart. PLEASE go and do something useful and stop being filled with so much hate that you attack us constantly. Why do you feel the need to make our lives harder? What's that you say? You are protecting us? OH, it all makes sense now! So you want to criminalise our clients so we earn less and our working lives become more dangerous? Ah SILLY me for not seeing that. Don't ya just love the sisterhood? These women are doing far more harm to us than any man can. Jess Phillips said in response to Corbyn on Twitter “Man says we should decriminalize a known violence against women” Why is it okay for a woman to be so sexist? So his opinion is not valid as he has male parts? But wait a second. My opinion isn't valid either because what would I know...I'm one of the poor vulnerable women she's talking about. Well news flash love. I'm not vulnerable. But I will be if you criminalise. Also why do these politicians always conveniently forget that there are trans and male workers too. And shock horror; female customers! Here is the piece that made my blood boil http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/mar/04/harriet-harman-jeremy-corbyn-decriminalisation-sex-industry And lastly there is this piece from Alex Feis-Bryce who is the chief executive of National Ugly Mugs. http://www.theguardian.com/voluntary-sector-network/2016/mar/04/jeremy-corbyn-right-decriminalising-sex-industry-way-forward This piece is grounded in actual data and statistics and not just a moral opinion Harman. Now I'm off to read something to calm down before I blow a gasket. Like the Daily Mail.
